Court Organization
Juvenile Probation & Detention Services
Juvenile Probation/Detention Services continues to focus on improving and developing program areas to address the unique needs of children and families in the community. With the Juvenile Court Act as a guide, services to the community focus on “Balanced and Restorative Justice” practices as well as other “best practices” supported by research in the field. The division maintains involvement with a variety of councils and associations, such as the Juvenile Justice Council, the Illinois Probation and Court Services Association, and the Juvenile Officers Association. Key staff members are selected annually to attend training and conferences in an effort to develop new skills and learn about programs that are working elsewhere and can be duplicated in our community.
During 2008, the division expanded its use of volunteers, adding volunteers to the Detention Center, Probation Unit, and FACE-IT program. Thanks to the coordination and organization of College of Lake County staff members, volunteers are now recruited and trained throughout the year.
