2008 Annual Report

Employee Recognition

Employee of the Year 2008

The Nineteenth Judicial Circuit named Brenda Chibucos Employee of the Year for 2008. Employee of the Year is the highest honor bestowed on any employee. Nominations for the award are made by fellow employees based on quality of service to the public and the court system, competency, and efficiency of overall performance. Selection is made by a committee of peers.

Brenda is a Principal Probation Officer and Unit Coordinator in Adult Probation. She joined the Courts on January 3, 1983. Serving in the Sex Offender Unit, she is recognized as an exemplary officer who not only does her job but goes above and beyond on a daily basis to accomplish the mission. Brenda does not call attention to herself, but is focused on others. She assists her fellow officers with their cases and is supportive of their career goals. Brenda participates in Cognitive Outreach Groups (COG) and encourages her clients to participate even when not ordered to. As an example of her caring attitude, a few years ago Brenda noticed a past probationer in McDonalds on Christmas Eve. She discovered that he was homeless and in need of assistance. She returned to the office, staying late to locate shelter and food. She even provided him with money out of her own pocket and started an office collection to assist him. While on vacation, Brenda stays in-touch by e-mail and ensures that all cases are covered. “Brenda’s ability to coordinate with other officers and focus on the needs of the probationers increases the safety of the community and makes her an exceptional officer and an exceptional employee.”
