Intensive Probation Supervision (IPS)

For selected felony offenders, Intensive Probation Supervision (IPS) is a viable sentencing alternative to commitment to the Department of Corrections. IPS provides a program of high accountability and structure which emphasizes maintenance of regular employment, fiscal responsibility, abstinence from illicit drug use, public service work, and the development of a permanent crime-free lifestyle.

IPS is a minimum of twelve months and is divided into three phases. The probationers are seen by a team of three Intensive Probation Officers, as well as surveillance officers, numerous times per week and must abide by a strictly enforced curfew. Probationers that successfully complete IPS are assigned to a regular field Probation Officer who will provide supervision for the remainder of their probation sentence.
